CARAMBA! is a happy, high energy, zany, eight to ten piece collective dance band, guaranteed to get you dancing to a fusion of world rhythms with our self-written songs and toons and classic Salsa songs. Caramba! are also a street music Samba Band.

We use a wicked mixture of influences from Caribbean Soca, Reggae, Ska, Samba, Raga, Celtic, African, Eastern European, Asian 'Dance' grooves. Not to mention (and we won't) Indie, Post-Rock, heavy metal and Cheese.

Caramba! appeals to all ages, with a visual/party atmosphere. The Caramba Carnival brings out the midnight sunshine! Even in British summers (legal note: not guaranteed)

We were originally formed in 1994 by Norman Findlay, keyboards and song-writer, who has played in many bands over the last few hundred years. Since those early days the band has evolved from being a world music covers band to developing a unique style of our own with original material alongside classic soca tunes. During this time the personnel have changed several times, and going by "singers" we are now on Caramba! 4 (going by "musicians" we are now on Caramba! 204ish - people move on, old and young). Even Norman's gone now, but Caramba! just won't go away! Even if you paid us!! How much? Oh, all right then... :0)

We have also changed the line up which these days has dispensed with a kit drummer and now comprises a combination of five members of Ranga (a street Samba Band) and half of a Soca band, with guitars, bass and assorted bits and pieces from here and there.

With the well-established influences of the Samba section of the band we are now not only gigging our stage set, but are playing for processions and street music - as we have at Barmouth Music Festival 2002, Newtown Festival 2003 and The Gloucester Music Festival. Peta and Bym are experienced percussion workshop leaders and are happy to do this at your festival.

We hope to see you soon!
